Physiotherapy in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur
Physio in Cheras, on the Maluri side beside Sunway Velocity, open seven days. No referral is needed and you can book directly. A first visit is mostly assessment: we look at how you actually move before anything begins, so the work goes to whatever is driving the problem rather than only the spot that hurts. From there we pair hands on care with a small exercise programme aimed at rebuilding the strength and control that help keep a joint moving freely.

Key takeaways
The short answers
- Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
- No. You can book directly with us in Cheras. If your case needs imaging or a medical opinion first, we will tell you and help you arrange it.
- How long is a first session?
- Around forty five minutes to an hour, and most of that is assessment rather than hands on care. You should leave knowing what we think is going on.
- Should I book physiotherapy or chiropractic?
- It depends on what the assessment finds. Both are available here under one roof, so you are not fitted to whichever one a clinic happens to offer.
- Will I be given exercises?
- Yes, in most cases. A small programme built around your problem and progressed as you get stronger, rather than a printed sheet handed to everyone.
- When are you open?
- Seven days a week, including Sunday, at Sunway Velocity in Maluri. Monday to Thursday and Saturday until 8pm, Friday until 5pm, Sunday until 3pm.

How it works
What physiotherapy involves here
We assess before we begin, then explain what we find in plain terms, including the parts your care is unlikely to change.

Precision manual therapy
Refined hands on techniques, including joint mobilisation and myofascial release, aimed at improving how a joint moves and easing pain with precision. Manual therapy tends to work best as a way in rather than the whole plan. It can settle things enough that the active work becomes possible, and what we use depends on what the assessment finds.
Movement, gait and biomechanical assessment
A detailed look at posture, gait and how you move under load, so we can identify what is contributing to the problem rather than only where you feel it. Pain in one place often traces back to how something else is moving, and working on the sore spot alone tends to let it return. Where footwear or orthotics are relevant, we look at those too.
Corrective exercise programming
Progressive plans built around your condition, goals and daily life. Most of the lasting change tends to come from the exercise, which is why we prescribe it properly rather than hand you a generic sheet. The programme starts small, and we adjust it as you get stronger so it stays matched to what you can actually manage between visits.
What your first physiotherapy session involves
The first visit is mostly assessment. We ask about your history, what aggravates and eases the problem and what you need to get back to, then examine how you move and test the area. Hands on care usually follows, along with the first few exercises to take home. A session generally runs around forty five minutes to an hour, and you should leave understanding what we think is going on and what the plan is.
Physiotherapy or chiropractic, and how we combine them
Broadly, chiropractic care works on how a restricted joint moves, while physiotherapy works on the strength and control around it. Neither is better in the abstract, and many people benefit from both. Under one roof in Cheras we also offer dry needling, and the assessment decides where to start. If you are not sure which you need, message us your main concern and we will point you to the right starting point.
What happens in a physiotherapy assessment?
A first physiotherapy visit is mostly assessment. We take a history, ask what makes the problem better or worse and what you need to get back to, then look at how you actually move, test the affected area and check the joints and muscles around it. The aim is to work out what is driving the problem rather than only where you feel it, because pain in one place often traces back to how something else is moving. From there we explain what we have found in plain terms and agree a plan, which usually pairs some hands on care with a small, specific exercise programme.
Physiotherapy or chiropractic: which do you need?
Broadly, chiropractic care works on how a restricted joint moves, while physiotherapy builds the strength and control around it, and a good number of people benefit from both. Neither is better in the abstract; it depends on what the assessment finds. Because we offer chiropractic care, physiotherapy and dry needling under one roof in Cheras, we can start wherever the findings point and adjust as things change, rather than fitting you to whatever a single discipline happens to offer.
Where is the clinic, and how do I get there?
We are at Signature 2, inside the Sunway Velocity development in Maluri, on the Cheras side of Kuala Lumpur. The mall car park is the simplest option if you are driving, and both Maluri and Cochrane stations are within walking distance if you are not. Maluri is an interchange, so the Ampang and Sri Petaling lines and the Kajang line all reach us. We are open seven days, which matters if weekdays are difficult: Monday to Thursday and Saturday until 8pm, Friday until 5pm, and Sunday until 3pm. The full address and a map link are in the footer of every page.
Choosing between them
Physiotherapy or chiropractic care?
The honest answer is that it depends on what the assessment finds, and plenty of people here end up having both. This is the rough shape of the difference.
| What is being compared | Physiotherapy | Chiropractic care |
|---|---|---|
| Works mainly on | Strength, control and how you move | How a restricted spinal joint moves |
| A first visit looks like | Movement testing and assessment, then hands on care and your first exercises | A Gonstead analysis, segment by segment, before anything is adjusted |
| Main tools | Manual therapy, joint mobilisation, corrective exercise | A precise hands on adjustment of the segment identified |
| Between visits | An exercise programme carries most of the work | Usually less to do at home, though we may still give you something |
| Often suits | Recovery after injury, weakness, movement that keeps breaking down | A joint that feels stuck, or a problem returning to the same spot |
Neither is better in the abstract. If you are not sure which you need, message us your main concern and we will point you to the right starting point rather than book you into whichever one you happened to click.

What people say after being seen here

Hishamuddin Badaruddin4 months ago As a medical doctor, I myself, like my fellow doctors, am usually my very own worst patient. I came to see DC Valerie with a back pain which I should have sorted out weeks ago. I was in KL for a short day trip and decided to get treatment as I had the afternoon free. I initially contacted another chiropractic clinic who did not have any slots open but recommended Dr Valerie. Well Dr Valerie is knowledgeable - diagnosed my scoliosis and that my right shoulder pain was due to my mid-thoracic region and that my back pain was due to other issues. Highly recommended and worth it! Need several sessions and self awareness for posture and flexibility - and back strengthening.

What really set Dr. Rynn apart was how amazing he was at explaining everything. He broke down exactly what was going on with my spine and walked me through the entire treatment plan so I never felt left in the dark. The best part? I was able to get my consultation and treatment done all on the same day. The adjustment itself was fantastic, and I felt instant relief in my lower back the moment it was done. It’s rare to find a practitioner who combines top-tier expertise with such a great bedside manner. If you are looking for a skilled, compassionate, and efficient chiropractor, do yourself a favor and see Dr. Rynn. I would highly recommend him to anyone and everyone!

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Is the first physiotherapy session painful?
It should not be excessively painful. Some tests may briefly reproduce your familiar symptoms so we can pin down the problem, but your physiotherapist works within your comfort level and will stop if you ask. Mild soreness for a day afterwards can happen, particularly after hands on work.
How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?
It depends on the problem, how long it has been there and how the exercise progresses, so we will not give you a fixed number at the first visit. Assessing early often means fewer sessions than leaving a problem to become chronic. We review honestly as we go rather than sell a package up front.
Do I need a doctor referral to see a physiotherapist?
No referral is needed to book with us. If your case needs imaging or a medical opinion first, we will tell you and help you arrange it rather than press on regardless.
Will I get exercises to do at home?
Yes, in most cases. The exercise is where a lot of the lasting change tends to come from, so we prescribe a small, specific programme and progress it as you improve. It is designed to fit into a normal day rather than take over your evening.
Can I have physiotherapy and chiropractic care together?
Yes, and a good number of patients here do. The two work on different things, so combining them is common rather than unusual: chiropractic care addresses how a restricted joint moves and physiotherapy builds the strength and control around it. The assessment decides where to start and whether both are worth using at all, and we will say so if we think one alone is enough.
Where in Cheras are you, and is there parking?
We are at Signature 2 in the Sunway Velocity development in Maluri, on the Cheras side of Kuala Lumpur. The mall car park is the easiest option if you drive, and Maluri and Cochrane stations are both within walking distance if you take the train. The full address and a map link sit in the footer of every page.
Are you open at weekends?
Yes, we are open seven days a week including Sunday. Saturday runs to 8pm and Sunday to 3pm, which is usually the easiest slot to get if weekdays are difficult. Monday to Thursday we are open until 8pm and Friday until 5pm.
