Your First Chiropractic Visit:
What to Expect?
Going to a chiropractic appointment for the first time and not sure what to expect? If you are feeling nervous and anxious, fret not. We have prepared a guide that can help lead you through your first ever chiropractic appointment. We want you to feel calm and most importantly, comfortable on your first visit.
If this is your first time here, kindly arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment time to allow yourselves to fill up any necessary paperwork.
Your initial chiropractic visit would normally include these 4 steps:
1. Patient history and current state of health
Every first visit starts with a health questionnaire. This allows our chiropractors to understand more about your concerns, specific problems and nature of pain. You may be required to get changed into a gown (if necessary) so that our chiropractors can conduct a full assessment of your spine.
2. Full assessment of spine
A thorough chiropractic exam will be conducted to assess areas of complaint and inspect overall spine and visible indicators of injuries. This may require the patient to perform some movements and stretches to test your flexibility.
3. Report of Findings
Your chiropractor will provide a thorough explanation on patient’s current health condition according to their spinal health.
4. Treatment Plan
Your chiropractor will then create a suitable in-patient chiropractic treatment plan according to your needs that will include adjustments which will be performed in the subsequent visits. In addition, you will be provided with necessary advice on appropriate exercises, diet, and lifestyle to ensure the best results.

Are X-Rays Really Necessary for Chiropractic Treatments?
Identify Developmental Problems
Having an X-Ray can help chiropractors to identify developmental issues such as scoliosis or spine curvature disorders.
Examine Spine Alignment
Using the biomechanical analysis process, our Gonstead Chiropractors look for abnormal alignment of the bones, the analysis plays an important role in analysing for the whole picture of the spine.
X-Rays are the best diagnostic tools as it allows chiropractors to have a clear vision of your body and internal layout. It is the best technique to identify the source of your pain.
